New to rodeo? Start here.

Every champion started somewhere. If your kid just fell in love with a horse and you’re not sure what comes next, Next Level was built for you. Stacey has a soft spot for families who are brand new, and there’s no such thing as a dumb question here.

Find the right fit

Which option fits your rider?

Answer three quick questions.

How old is your rider?
Where are they with goat tying?
Can you travel to a clinic in the next few months?

Pick an answer for each question and your best next step shows up here.

Your first clinic

How it works, step by step

  1. Pick a clinic near you

Clinics are open to all levels, boys and girls ages 7 and up. Each one lists the dates, the arena, the price and what’s included.

  2. Register online

Add each rider, sign the release and pay the deposit to hold your spot. If the clinic is full, join the free waitlist.

  3. Watch your email

About two weeks before, you’ll get the clinic info sheet: the schedule, stalls and hookups, and what to bring.

  4. Pack the basics

Boots, a sturdy roping saddle with wide stirrups, tack in good repair and plenty to drink. See the full list.

  5. Come ready to learn

Riders work in small groups with several instructors. Parents, bring your phone and video your rider. You’ll learn right alongside them.

Questions parents ask

Good questions

Don’t see yours? Send Stacey a message. She’d rather answer it before the clinic than have you wonder.

Is my kid too new for a clinic?

No. Clinics are open to all levels. Riders are coached in small groups with several instructors, so a first-timer gets the same attention as a finals qualifier.

Do we need our own horse?

Not always. Riders practice dismounts on the Horse Saver, and at many clinics horses are optional. Check the clinic details or ask Stacey.

What does a clinic cost?

Tuition is listed on each clinic, and it usually includes lunch each day and a clinic t-shirt. A deposit holds your spot, and the balance is due before the clinic starts.

What gear does my rider need?

Start simple: boots, a roping saddle with wide stirrups and tack in good repair. A cotton goat string is forgiving and great for beginners. Get a string or see the gear Stacey uses.

What do parents do during the clinic?

Video your rider so you can practice at home, and help hold goats and catch horses if you’d like. It’s the best way to learn the sport with your kid.

What if we can’t make it after we register?

Deposits hold your spot and are non-refundable. If your rider can’t make it, you may sell the spot to someone on the waiting list. The balance is due before the clinic starts.

Can we learn at home between clinics?

Yes. The mentorship program gives you weekly coaching and feedback on your videos, and the Learn page has free lessons to start with.
